Bahrain Trade Union signs in MOU with GEFONT

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) prepared by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) was signed between the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) and the General Federation of Nepal Trade Union (GEFONT) in Kuwait.

“The MoU will address pre-migration issues, where the workers are cheated by local agents,” said GFBTU member Karim Radhi.

قالت نقابة عمال شركة طيران الخليج إن عدد من تم إعادتهم إلى وظائفهم من المفصولين بلغ (133) عامل وموظف من أصل (224) مفصول، وليس (147) كما أفادت الشركة في آخر بيان لها.

وأشار رئيس النقابة حبيب النبول في تصريح صحفي إلى أن بيان الشركة أحتوى على عدد من المغالطات، ليس أولها عدد من تم إعادتهم إلى وظائفهم السابقة وصولاً إلى وصف العمال المفصولين بأنهم متغيبين عن العمل.

وأوضح "عدد من تم إعادتهم من العمال والموظفين المفصولين بلغ (133)، تم إعادة (78) منهم فقط إلى وظائفهم، بينما لازال (55) آخرين دون أية مهام لفترة تجاوزت (3) شهور".

جدد المفصولون اعتصامهم أمس (الأربعاء) أمام وزارة العمل مطالبين بعودتهم إلى وظائفهم ورفض كل الإجراءات والشروط المهينة والنقل التعسفي والمضايقات وتغيير مواقع العمل والمناصب التي تعرض لها من تمت عودتهم إلى أعمالهم.

وشارك في الاعتصام السابع للمفصولين ممثلين عن الاتحاد العام لنقابات عمال البحرين، ورفع المشاركون أعلام البحرين وشعارات ولافتات تدعو إلى وقف ما وصفوه بـ"سياسة التجويع".

Bahrain Unions to woo expat workers

GDN: A MAJOR drive is being launched to encourage expatriates to join trade unions.

Officials from the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) will attend a conference in Kuwait next week to discuss the issue with colleagues from across Asia.

Activities and programmes head Karim Radhi said less than 10 per cent of the body's membership of around 25,000 were expatriates.

He said the unrest and the events of the last year had put on hold GFBTU plans to conduct nationwide campaigns to encourage foreign workers to join trade unions in their respective companies.

Bikya Masr: Amidst the violence of Bahrain’s revolution, an uprising broadly characterized by violent clashes between pro-democracy protestors and government security forces, a different and equally disturbing narrative was taking place throughout the country.

The recent Bahrain Independent CommissionInquiry (BICI) reveals the broad scope and extremely violent nature of the ethnic pogroms which were reported to have targeted the migrant worker class during the unrest. The stories are recounted with a cold, clinical detachment which belies the scenes of horror described therein:

خاص: قاطع عدد من النقابيين والمفصولين وزير العمل جميل حميدان قبيل إلقاء كلمته في حفل التكريم السنوي الذي تنظمه الوزارة للعمال المجدين.

 وقام رئيس نقابة (باس) يوسف الخاجة وبمعيته اثنين من المفصولين (حميد الراشد عضو نقابة (بابكو) وعلي جواد) من بين الحضور، وهتفا بإرجاع المفصولين، وذلك حين هم وزير العمل بإلقاء كلمته.

 وقال الخاجة هاتفاً "نطالب بإرجاع جميع المفصولين فانتم تكرمون العمال اليوم وهناك آلاف المفصولين (...) إلى متى هذا الظلم"، فرد عليه الوزير "إنشاء الله..إنشاء الله"، فعلق الخاجة مرة أخرى "نطالب بإرجاع المفصولين فجميع التقارير في صالح المفصولين وأنتم تماطلون ولم تنفذوا شي". وقد بدت على الوزير علامات الارتباك.

وبمجرد الانتهاء من تلك الكلمات دخل الأمن إلى داخل القاعة، وحال تدخل أحد المسؤولين في الوزارة من القبض عليهم، ولكن حينما وصلوا إلى خارج القاعة أوقفهم رجال الشرطة واستجوبوهم وسجلوا أسمائهم وأرقام هوياتهم وتلفوناتهم.

 ويعد الخاجة واحد من أكثر من 40 نقابي تم فصلهم في الأشهر الأخيرة من خلال الهجمة الحكومية على النقابيين والعمال في القطاعين العام والخاص.

نقابة "الخليج للاستثمار" تنتخب إدارتها الجديدة

انتخبت نقابة عمال شركة الخليج للاستثمار الصناعي مجلس إدارتها الجديد المكون من 7 نقابيين يوم أمس.

وفاز بعضوية مجلس الإدارة كل من عبد الكريم رضي، حسين الجمري،  محمد جواد،  مجيد ناصر،  حسن العرادي، علي نصيب و حسين النكال، فيما جاء ترتيب الأعضاء الاحتياط وفقاً لعدد الأصوات التي حصلوا عليها كالتالي محمد سلمان، فاضل يعقوب، فريدة فرهاد، وشيخ بودا صاحب.

بحجة المحافظة على "السيادة".. الموانئ تتسبب في تسريح 14 موظفاً بحرينياً

خاص: قررت المؤسسة العامة للموانئ بفسخ العقد المبرم بينها وبين شركة (سفتزر) التي تتولى مسؤولية الإرشاد والقطر ومراقبة السفن، الأمر الذي سيهدد مصير 14 موظف بحريني يعلمون في برج المراقبة وسيعرضهم للتسريح.

وكان المدير العام للمؤسسة العامة للموانئ البحرية قد صرح في وقت سابق بأن سبب عدول الحكومة عن العقد المبرم مع (سفتزر) التي تدير البرج حالياً هو "المساهمة في تعزيز المراقبة الساحلية والمحافظة على سيادة المياه الإقليمية المحيطة بمملكة البحرين".

يذكر أن حكومة البحرين سبق لها وأن أبرمت اتفاق مع شركة (أي بي أم تيرمنلز) منحت بموجبه الأخيرة حق امتياز تشغيل ميناء سلمان وميناء خليفة بن سلمان، وتعد شركة (سفتزر) إحدى الشركات الفرعية المملوكة لـ(أي بي أم تيرمنلز).

وتنص تؤكد الفقرة (17) وتقسيماتها الواردة في اتفاق منح الامتياز على أن مسؤولية كفالة الأمن الخارجي للميناء والقنوات الملاحية، تكون من التزامات الحكومة.

Reinstate Workers

DT: MP Abbas Al Madhi yesterday demanded the government organisations, private sector companies and the Parliament in particular, reinstate all sacked employees immediately.

He added that there were other reasons for their sacking, and this is illegal according to regulations, considering the directives of His Majesty to reinstate all employees, after the BICI report was issued.

As GFBTU records, there is more than 2900 worker were sacked, include more than 45 unionist.

BICI report authenticate hundreds of worker cases and it show under what circumstances they were sacked, especially when the prime minister said "No violators will get away with it and all co-conspirators & abettors must be held accountable".

Bahrain needs to act quickly to fully respecting freedom of association and freedom of speech

The pledge by Bahrain’s King Hamad to "reform our laws so they are compatible with international law" is a positive sign that the anti-union repression there may be coming to an end. The promise follows the release of a highly-critical report by an Independent Commission of Inquiry, released on 23 November, which detailed beatings, torture, arbitrary arrests, dismissals and a range of other serious rights violations aimed at the country’s trade unions in particular.

خاص: طالب اعتصام نظمه المفصولون صباح اليوم أمام مقر وزارة العمل بـ"عودة المفصولين إلى أعمالهم ومحاسبة من قاموا بإجراءات الفصل من العمل والتشويه الكيدي والوشايات ضدهم".

ودعا بيان صادر عن الاعتصام الذي شارك فيه ما يقارب الـ(600) مفصول حسب تقديرات شهود عيان إلى "صدور قرار سياسي لعودة كافة المفصولين والموقوفين من القيادات النقابية والعمال في القطاعين العام والخاص، دوم إبطاء وبكرامتهم وبكامل حقوقهم، فضلاً عن تعويضهم عن فترة الفصل وأضراره".

وشارك في الاعتصام عدد من القيادات النقابية في الاتحاد العام لنقابات عمال البحرين، كما رفع المعتصمون شعارات من قبيل " الشعارات "اسمع اسمع يا مسئول لازم يرجع كل مفصول".

المفصولون يواصلون اعتصاماتهم في "العمل"

جدد المفصولون اليوم اعتصامهم في مقر وزارة العمل، وذلك قبل يوم واحد من الاعتصام الذي دعوا له يوم غداً الثلاثاء أمام مقر الوزارة.

ورفع 400 مفصول مطالبهم بإعادتهم إلى أعمالهم وصرف مبالغ التأمين ضد التعطل التي وعودوا بها قبل حلول عيد الأضحى.

يذكر أن العديد من المفصولين قضوا ما يقارب الثمانية شهور دون أجور أو مبالغ التأمين ضد التعطل.

وعبر المعتصمون عن استغرابهم من التجاهل المستمر للتوجيهات الملكية وكبار المسؤولين في الحكومة القاضية بإعادتهم إلى أعمالهم، مؤكدين رفضهم أي مساومات مادية لقاء سحبهم قضاياهم من المحاكم أو عدم عودتهم إلى أعمالهم.

واعتبروا أن تأخير صرف التأمين ضد التعطل يأتي في سياق ممارسة الضغوطات على المفصولين الذين يتعرضون لظروف مادية صعبة ومساومتهم بتسويات مالية.

إلى ذلك، ينظم المفصولون اعتصاماً صباح يوم غداً الثلاثاء أمام مقر وزارة العمل، حيث دعت اللجنة المنظمة للاعتصام كافة المفصولين إلى المشاركة الفاعلة في الاعتصام.

تفاعل الاتحاد والمفصولين سيُنجح قرار "العمل الدولية"

تعليقاً على مقال الأخ هاني الفردان اليوم في صحيفة (الوسط) والذي جاء تحت عنوان (قرار منظمة العمل بهرجة إعلامية)، وددت ذكر بعض الملاحظات والنقاط التالية:-

إن القرار الذي صدر عن مجلس إدارة منظمة العمل الدولية في دورته الأخيرة، قد يكون ظاهرياً انتصار للحكومة عبر تأجيلها تحويل قضية المفصولين في البحرين إلى لجنة الحريات النقابية من أجل متابعتها والشروع في إجراءات الشكاوى حسب ما ينص عليه دستور المنظمة، ولكن المتعمق في القرار، يستنتج أموراً أخرى.

Expats Threatened, Beaten And Robbed

DT: Masked men yesterday reportedly broke into a flat in West Aker and robbed the occupants.

In a separate incident, occupants of a nearby building barricaded their main door to prevent a group of around 10 masked men from breaking into their accommodation, an hour later.

The masked men told the residents, all of them from India, to vacate the area after they failed to enter the house and threatened dire consequences if they did not. The incident happened at 3am and the attackers spoke in Arabic, the victims told DT.

Women wages higher than men in the private sector

DT: Gender disparity – as seen through the difference in wages between male and female employees – is wider in the private sector than in the public sector, a report by the Economic Development Board (EDB) has found.

The Bahrain Economic Quarterly, an economic revision report to be issued by the EDB later this month, says that in the public sector women’s wages were 10 per cent higher than those of their male counterparts during 2011, as against the private sector where women were found to be earning only 70pc of men’s wages.

There are many factors affecting the gender wage gap, as per the report.

One of these factors is female unemployment rate which in the second quarter of 2011 stood at 7.3pc while that of Bahraini males was 2.1pc.
