GDN: INFORMATION Affairs Authority (IAA) president Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa yesterday honoured 286 outstanding employees, marking World Press Freedom Day.
He hosted a ceremony at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, in the presence of Shura Council members, editors-in-chief and journalists.
He hailed His Majesty's keynote address, in which he paid tribute to the media profession and stressed commitment to freedom of opinion - being a cornerstone of the reform project and development march.
Shaikh Fawaz also credited the royal reform project for expanding the scope of freedom of expression to anchor the democratic march.
He extended his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, stressing the government's keenness to promote Press freedom.
Shaikh Fawaz also hailed HRH the Premier's keynote address marking the global day.
He announced plans to develop the Foreign Correspondents' Club to ensure better services for members and provide facilities for reporters who visit Bahrain to cover events.
