The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) supports the LabourStart campaign to pressure Bahrain to respect fundamental human rights. The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) is concerned with the continuous attacks on the Bahraini trade union movement.
Trade union leaders are designated as leaders of a conspiracy to overthrow the regime. There have been dismissals of workers who participated in strikes and demonstrations and union leaders are particularly targeted.
This appeal has already been a success with 4,600 people having sent off messages since it was launched on April 19. The campaign appears in 10 languages, including Arabic. Now we urge you to join the campaign on www.labourstart.org and keep up the pressure on the Bahraini authorities.
