DT: The Nepali Club has given shelter to a housemaid who has complained of not being paid her wages for several months.
The 28-year-old housemaid was working for Pakistani employers for three years. It was for the past two to three months that she had been complaining of non-payment of wages.
Because of this, she decided to run away and seek shelter at the Nepali Club.
As the club has been deputised by the Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia to represent distressed workers and handle or negotiate their cases against abusive employers, they have taken up her case and have begun to negotiate with her employers for the payment of her salary.
Nepali Club Vice President Santosh Dahal told DT: “We have already contacted her employers. They said they would solve the problem in a few days. For now, we are just waiting.”
Currently, the Nepali Club has passed over the Nepali housemaid to a Nepali family who will provide her with a temporary home until her case is solved.
She has still not decided whether she wants to go back to Nepal or continue working in the Kingdom after receiving her payments.
